Business Studies

Welcome to the Business Studies Department

The Business Studies Department is housed in rooms M22 and M23 adjacent to the Learning Resource Centre.  The 2 rooms are well equipped with a total of 45 computers, a "Smartboard", a scanner, Smartcard reader, a video projector, VCR with TV monitor and an overhead projector. 

Each computer has the Microsoft Office suite of programs and has internet access.  Each pupil has an e-mail address and full use of this is made with e-mentoring projects and links with schools in Europe.

Housed in the ICT tutorial room M21, video conferencing equipment will provide links to industry, enable access to distance learning and facilitate discussions between PHS and partner schools in Europe (Finland, Italy and Germany) as part of a European funded "Comenius Project".

The main subject is "Business Management" which is offered at Standard, Intermediate 2 and Higher Grades.  These courses provide a broad picture of the world of business and industry with the all-important ICT skills included.

The department is also involved in the delivery of Information Technology to students in S1 and S2.
