WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME

S4 Work Experience (3rd week in February)

S4 work experience is available to:
 Students who are not returning for S5. Your birthday must be on or before the 31st September in the year you intend to leave.

Work experience placements are usually 5 days out of school full time work with a company of your choosing. It is intended as an opportunity to get first hand experience of the world of work and so help you make a more informed choice about your own career path.

The school is in the process of designing the work experience programme together with Careers Scotland and number of companies in partnership with the school so that placements have relevance to your career needs.
We are always looking for as wide a range of placements as possible.
Placements are posted on a Careers Scotland website.
You will be invited to apply to join the programme by Mr. Mahler in October of your 4th year.

How to get a placement

1. To apply for a placement you must register with Mr. Mahler for a login and password so you can access the Careers Scotland website.

2. Many of you will know people who can offer work experience of relevance to you. We would encourage you to pursue these opportunities and get the new found placement details to your Work Experience Co-ordinator (Mr. Mahler) as soon as possible after you register on the website.

3. You must have all the necessary forms completed before Christmas. Careers Scotland will not process applications after the last day of the Christmas term.

4. You can only get placements with companies who employ somebody else other than the owner .
This means ‘One man band’ companies will not be considered.
