The main extra-curricular activities offered by the department centre on trips abroad.

• Paris-Eurodisney trip
  This is intended for pupils at the end of S2
  
• French Exchange Programme
  This is normally for pupils in the middle school.  Our exchange school is the town of Tournon, south of Lyon, and has been involved with us since 1999.  Our pupils normally go to France in October while the French pupils come here in May.
  
• German Exchange Programme
  This has been running since 1990.  Our exchange school in Germany is a grammar school lying between Stuttgart and Esslingen in Southwest Germany.  It is normally for pupils in S3, 4 and 5.  The German pupils come to us in September while we go to them in June.

Higher French group using their culinary skills

On Tuesday 1st May 2007, the Higher French classes learned more about French cooking ... the hard way, by doing it themselves!

They prepared a 3-course meal for lunch consisting of raw vegetables and Mimosa eggs as entrees and Taboule and Salade Niçoise for the main course.  The dessert was bought in and, while it is true to say they enjoyed the apple tart, most of all they excelled themselves by preparing the beautifully eye-catching starters and authentic-tasting main courses.
