Activities
Due to the nature of Physical Education there is a major contribution from members of the PE Dept. to extra curricular activities at Peebles High School.
The following activities take place in the Games Hall, Gym and on the pitches at lunchtimes, after school and at weekends : Hockey - for girls, teams at S1, S2, S3 and Senior levels. Inter school matches take place on Saturday mornings. Teams train two lunchtimes a week.
Rugby - for boys, teams at S1, S2, U15 and Senior levels. School matches take place on Saturday mornings for S1, S2 and U15s. Seniors play on Wednesday evenings using the floodlights at the Gytes when necessary. Teams train two lunchtimes a week.
Volleyball - for boys and girls, teams at Junior and Senior levels. Practices are at lunchtimes and after school. Tournaments and matches may be on Sundays and after school.
Football - for boys and girls, teams at most age groups, training at lunchtimes.
The above are the "major" extra curricular activities. The school teams compete against other Border and Edinburgh schools almost every week from August to March (excluding holidays). Teams enter Border Schools, Scottish Schools and Invitational Tournaments.
Other sports covered at different times of the school year include : Athletics, Cross Country Running, Netball, Dance (Scottish Country and Modern).
