Aims and Introduction

The aims of the RMPS department are as follows:

  • To develop the pupils’ knowledge and understanding of religious, moral and philosophical thinking from various traditions.
  • To give the pupils an understanding and appreciation of the way in which beliefs influence behaviour and patterns of living.
  • To encourage pupils in their search for meaning, value and purpose in life.
  • To help pupils understand the experiences, beliefs and practices of others in a spirit of tolerance.

Throughout the course pupils are asked to reflect on their own beliefs, attitudes and values through consideration of the beliefs of others and by responding in a positive and thoughtful way.

Most of our lessons are worksheet based and class discussion is central
to the learning.  We have good links with the Pupil Support department
