Our annual Health Week took place between 21st -25th September. The focus this year
was on forging links within the local community.
A wide range of activities were on offer throughout the week including basketball
coaching, circuit training, Muay Thai, Spinning, Pilates, Aerobics, Boxercise, Girls
Rugby and a 5 a side football tournament. Less energetic activities included
presentations by NHS Borders Oral Health dept. on the importance of wearing a
mouthguard whilst participating in sport, Tweed Green and their 50/50 project
looking at eating locally produced food, and a Youth Services Market Place
highlighting the services and organisations available to young people within the
local area.
To this end we are extremely grateful to Lynne Bertram and her team at the Gytes
Leisure Centre, Peebles Bowling Club, Tweed Green, Graham Patterson at Peebles Rugby
Club, IshUze, Up2U, Innerleithen & Walkerburn Youth Group, Face to Face, Peer
Advocacy Project, Young Carers and Penumbra.
The week culminated in our annual Charity Walk which will benefit charities
connected with Organ Transplants and Kidney Dialysis a subject particularly relevant
to our school community.
Further health related events took place on Thursday 1st October when the Army
provided a personal development day including a range of leadership and physical
activities and the "Blood Bus" visited in memory of Susan Brown , former teacher at
PHS.
