Careers Scotland

Young people can face difficult decisions about their future. A Career Adviser from Careers Scotland is available at Peebles High School and can help you, as parents or guardians, to support them in their decision making process.

Peebles High School’s Careers Adviser is Chris Conway.

Chris is a professionally qualified expert in the field of vocational guidance and he can help your son or daughter to:

  1. Plan their future and explore all the options.
  2. Match their skills and interests to possible careers.
  3. Decide what to study and what qualifications to aim for.
  4. Find employment and training opportunities.
  5. Investigate entry requirements for jobs and courses.
  6. Apply for jobs and courses.
  7. Use a wide range of careers information.
  8. Find out about grants, funding, benefits and finance.
  9. Research sponsorships, working abroad and taking a year out.

Chris offers extra support for pupils with special educational needs and attend Future Needs Meetings from S3 onwards if required.

Careers Scotland also supports the Careers Education programme within Peebles High School (which runs from S2-S6).

If you would like the opportunity to discuss your son or daughter’s future plans, or require up to date information on opportunities in further and higher education, training and employment you can talk to Chris:

• At parents’ evenings in school.
• At your son or daughter’s careers interview – by prior arrangement.
• By appointment – telephone Careers Scotland on 01896 754884

Careers Scotland's aim is to assist young people of all abilities to make a smooth transition from school into further study, training or employment and, in so doing, realise their full potential.
