S3/S4

During this year an important aim is the training of pupils to use the careers library.  They are encouraged to use the various resources available eg pamphlets, reference books, videos and computer databases.

More time is spent examining the world of work using video material to look at the qualities, qualifications, training, aptitudes and further education needs to progress in a wide variety of career areas.

In S4 year every pupil will have the opportunity to use a computer package which helps them identify strengths and interests making them more aware of career opportunities both locally and nationally.

Pupils also cover crucial job hunting skills such as phoning, filling in applications, preparing CV’s and developing interview techniques.

During S3/S4 pupils will be gaining more specialised information on career areas and choice.  Use will be made of a computerised system of careers guidance which helps to identify important strengths and interests and make pupils more aware of career opportunities both locally and nationally.  The information gained over these two years is helpful in forming the basis of an individual interview with a Careers Adviser from Careers Scotland.
