Family Holidays
In June 2008 Scottish Borders Council published an Attendance and Absence Management Policy. This policy is applicable in all SBC schools. The policy in its entity can be viewed at
http://www.scotborders.gov.uk/pdf/23220.pdf
With reference to family holidays parents/carers should note the following extract from the above policy.
Holidays during term time
Holidays taken during term time are classed as unauthorised and must be recorded as such. Only in exceptional circumstances where it is important to the well-being and cohesion of the family following serious or terminal illness, bereavement or other traumatic events or where a parent's employment is of the nature where school holiday-leave cannot be accommodated (this might include emergency or armed services) can holidays in term time be authorised.
