Excellence developments were a major focus for all departments as learning
and teaching is at the heart of our activities.

Work of the School
- Twenty two new members of
staff joined the school at the beginning of the session including 12
probationary teachers.
- The majority of the staff
joined working groups to assist in the school's improvement agenda.
- The Parent Forum was
constituted and ably led by a Parent Council with the PTA continuing to
play a crucial role in the school.
- A Parent Communication
Group was set up to discuss all aspects of communication between the
school, parents and the wider community.
- Staff, along with parents
and members of the community organised and led 56 different
extra-curricular activities.
- Our Business Partnership
continued to thrive with many local and national businesses enhancing and
contributing to the education of our students.
- Commercial surveys were
carried out to find out the views of pupils, parents and staff and the
results were used to create the school's improvement plan for the next few
years.
Leadership & Vision
- The schools vision, values
and aims were revisited, refocused and rewritten based on the Curriculum
for Excellence. All stakeholders played a role in this project.
- All policies were
rationalised and updated to conform to the new national and Scottish
Borders Council priorities.
- Greater opportunities for
staff to develop their leadership and team building skills were initiated.
- Our senior students
continued to have a voice in the decision-making processes within the
school through the Senior Student Council and the whole school Student
Council
- Many projects were led by
the senior students through the school's Student Leadership Initiative.
- The Curriculum for
Excellence Leadership Team developed draft plans for a new secondary
structure. The new structure will have a lower school (S1-S3) and upper
school (S4-S6).
